The Scandals at St. Gertrude the Great

West Chester, Ohio

The Full Documented Story

October 20, 2009

The E-Mail of Bishop Dolan
to Rev. Mr. Hall announcing the termination of his employment

Rev. Mr. Hall was dismissed from his position as teacher at St. Gertrude the Great School and church organist on October 20, 2009.  The events leading up to the dismissal consisted chiefly in meetings held between Mr. Hall, Bishop Dolan, and Father Cekada, in which he had attempted to alert his pastors to the serious and worsening infractions of conduct by the school principal.  These talks had met with what appeared to be serious concern on the part of Bishop Dolan, but mere excusing and sweeping under the carpet by Father Cekada.  However, on October 20, things spiralled out of all control, with one of the students verbally rebuking Mr. Hall, cursing at him, and physically threatening him.  Mr. Hall wrote an e-mail to Bishop Dolan asking for his help in the matter, and received the following reply later that evening.

Dear Bernie,

Pursuant to your admission to me today that you have personally met with and been in regular contact with persons who have been engaged in spreading calumnies, gossip and lies about members of St. Gertrude the Great Church, its employees and its staff, on the Internet and otherwise, I hereby dismiss you from employment as teacher and organist, effective immediately.

I hereby forbid you to come onto the church property, and I have instructed our employees and staff to have no further contact with you.

If you have any personal items that you have left on church property, please send a list to Father Cekada, and he will make arrangements to have them delivered to you.

I cannot tell you how sad we all were to learn of your betrayal.

Yours in Christ,

The Most Rev. Daniel L. Dolan
